first, i can NOT believe those damn cops got acquitted of killing sean bell… it’s kinda sad because in these kinds of situations, i tend to feel that [eventually] justice will NOT be served. the system is just so unfair that it is UNreal to me. i can’t even believe this kind of shit is allowed to go on. now i see first hand what kinda shit prompts rebellions and revolutions, cuz this shit HERE??? is UNreal. *sigh* all i can do is pray for his family to be strong and focused and find another way to hang those bastards by their balls.
second, i have to talk about the whole light-skin / dark-skin [good/bad hair] thing. i can’t even believe that we are still in this cotton-pickin’, slave master-driven mentality? i find it incomprehensible that some people actually think that just because they are light and bright, they are suddenly better than their more chocolate counterparts. not only that, but you have millions of brown people that believe they are less-than just because they’re not ‘light-skinned and wavy’.. oh HELL NO.
i had to grow up on both sides of the spectrum. when i was young- i was the outcast. the african ‘booty scratcher’, the alien, the ugliest person on the planet. THEN - as i blossomed and grew into my rather large features - ALL of the sudden it was ‘oh elbie, you’re so pretty’; ’oh- you’re exotic’; ‘your complexion’ this; ’your hair’ that…. ’oh elbie, you’re not really black cuz you have a little nose and pretty hair’ … ”he only dates white girls but you should talk to him cuz you’re not really black”
