[currently] in dc - in my robe… heated.
ok. first things first. i will recap what happened at the AA-Day parade. i had a photoshoot on this past sunday. while on the way to the train to times square to scout locations with the photog, we ran right into the middle of the parade. we were unaware that it was even going on but were pleasantly surprised.
so we stayed. and it was all ‘ok’ where we were for the most part - until we were leaving at about 7:30.
we were in my car at a red light on 117th and 7th. all the sudden a crowd of people are running towards us from across the street. something tells me ‘lock your doors’ but i’m too busy looking behind them to see what was making them run so fast.
cops.
good ole blue & white.
about 10 seconds after all the colored folks ran across the street, dispersed, and disappeared, here come your boys, 3 of them, panting for dear life. especially the one that looked like he weighed 300 lbs EASY. poor thing- was pulling up his pants that kept falling down…. [how he had on pants that were actually too BIG is beyond me] any’who, he somehow miraculously made it across the street first. he ran almost right into a bystander that was standing next to a parked car. obviously discombobulated and embarrassed, he gathers himself and GRABS the young man and throws him to the floor. here come the other 2 [one of whom was a light-skinned african american man] running to ‘the scene’.
just like it was a horror movie we watched helplessly as the 2nd white cop INSTANTLY pulls out his night stick and **BAM** right on the young man’s head. he didn’t even think twice before he did it again. and again. and again.
we couldn’t believe our eyes. so much so - that a photojournalist was almost too frozen to make a move towards the drama.
i put the car in park, and we both yelled, ‘OMG!!!!!!’ before she pulled her lens cap off and jumped out the passenger side door.
i stared at the commotion as her flash pierced through the darkness. flash - flash - flash … it was BRIGHT too.
i guess blue & white noticed that too and 2 of them grabbed her [one on each arm] and ‘led’ her to the sidewalk.
WHEW. i thought they were gonna beat her down too. for ‘interfering with police investigation’ or some shit.
and like a true journalist, she kept flashing away via her zoom lens.
so many emotions flooded to me all at once. fear, anger, hurt, helplessness… HOPElessness… the whole shebang.
it was a mess… i wish i was in a position to recorded the whole thing somehow… it SO would have made the 10 o’clock news honey. please believe.
the second thing is way too involved and emotional for me to type. it involves a very disturbed man that has been [silently]stalking me and decided to break his silence on wednesday. it’s my turn now and i want to address that via video… i will post that shortly… stay tuned.
