[currently] working from home, making up a working to-do list, and organizing my november/my life
this weekend was great. i had a wonderful opportunity to inspire someone and it felt good.
without getting too personal, i will say here that i am a bit annoyed with myself. now don’t get it twisted, i’m still FAB and full of zEn… however, this weekend taught me a little bit about being a bit tighter with the freedom i allow myself. being your own boss has it’s perks but at the same time it has its challenges as well.
let us start with the positives, as i always do. it is a blessing to be able to survive and stay above water [most of time] by utilizing your own resources and having the opportunity to have your own small, but fairly successful, family business. it is also cool not to have immediate people to report to, or worry about looking over your shoulder, etc…
this is where most people from the other side of the street say … “mmm, MUST be NICE”
it is, but only sometimes.
u know, just like your paycheck [that is guaranteed to be the same amount every 2 weeks] is NICE.
true, it would be nicer if it increased once in a while, but what if that also meant that it had to decrease just as much. all the while, you would still have to maintain the ship and keep it afloat cuz nobody gives a damn that your client is 6 months late paying their invoice. it aint easy dammit, and sometimes it damn sure aint NICE.
but to me, a freedom that is much worth the struggle.
now- upon my wonderful relocation to the city of my dreams, i have not been too on-point with setting a schedule for myself. been doing what i do best… indulging. yup that’s me. tap into a pleasurable source and repeat. and keep repeating. and it’s almost like the universe conspires for me to keep on indulging. ugh!!!
i need to be able to keep multiple priorities in their proper places - up top. just like i tell everyone around me, i need to jump out there and take a few calculated [sometimes emotional] risks in order to get to a higher, more productive place.
right now [covering my cousin's boutique] i’m listening to an older but very stylish lady holding 5 pieces of louis vuitton luggage saying “i have ten of thousands of dollars worth in luggage but not a dime to my name!!!!” … i smiled at her transparent honesty and know that i have been there before. so much STUFF but nothing for REAL to show for it. i don’t wanna go back there. we as black women don’t need to be there period. we got too much work to do out here to be caught up in flashing lights.
imma stop blabbing. i meant to post this blog yesterday.
boo - on me.
here’s another video… oh yeah- i write songs too… and before you go being all critical and say -this bitch can’t sing… just keep in mind- i’m an artist, and i’m sensitive about my shit [e.badu]

[currently] still in the bed, bout to get up and get ready for a busy day. [happy birthday neffy!!!]
before i started my day, i had to educate the children on some history. y’all know i love me some be[yonce]. we go allll the way back to ‘no, no no- part 1′ . but i will say that she illustrates all the time what i always say, “the best music(audio OR video) has already been created”
all the way up to ‘deja vu’ and ‘upgrade you’, i been LOVING her, BUTTTerrrummmmm- her 2 recent singles do absolutely nothing for me. :-/ [sorry be, still love you tho!] but i will say that when i saw the ’single ladies’ video i absolutely LOVED the choreography. [*ahem* minus the gyration] kids are watching be!!!!
[pause]
anywho- low and behold, i found the originator. here is Gwen Verdon Fosse in ‘Mexican Breakfast’ [Gwen Verdon is the wife of 1960s acclaimed broadway choreographer, Bob Fosse] . according to mrs. carter herself, this is [yet another] ‘tribute’.
[pause #2]
so does that mean we can call beyonce a ‘tribute artist’ now? because this is becoming a serious HABIT. chuh….
[quick edit for be cuz i DO love u girl]- below the gwen video, i just had to include someone [my soon 2 be dance partner] who did a tribute to you… life is always full circle… enjoy!

[currently] at home contemplating on what imma eat for dinner!! just heard a song called ‘bad bitch’ by big country featuring trey songz. i’m prolly all late but y’all know i had to dance around to it like a fool LoL.. imma try to edit it in imovie and see what happens.. lololol. [edit- ok NO, imovie is not being nice to me today and neither is garage band. will get back on those 2 tomorrow]
ok why do i think that i am all audio and video today?? i done recorded myself on garageband. i’m learning how to ‘mix’ stuff on there slowly but surely. y’all don’t even know how i get when i decide to master something. i can’t wait to be recording and mixing my own stuff and not having to bother anybody ever again! it’s frustrating and i refuse to work with anyone that isn’t as excited to work with me as i am [excited to work on my music!!] LoL…
oh yes- i have to blog about how roomie got GOT and was given a counterfit $10 bill!!! can u imagine? at the CLUB no less. smh…. times are getting crazier and crazier. i mean i know it’s not a 100 or a 50 but STILL!!!
she didn’t even know it was counterfeit before she tried spending it at the bodega and they put the brown line [refer to pic]on the joint and were like BLOOP-BLOOP! wrong answer. :-/
now she looks like the one trying to scam THEM. :-/ o well… becareful in the clubs and stuff loviEs. they apparently aren’t paying attention OR they’re being shady bOots.
